What moves from BigCommerce

BigCommerce can export products, customers and orders as CSV from the admin, and more detailed data is available through the API. We import with tools and verify against a mapping table.

Moves over

  • Products, variants, options and images
  • Categories and brands
  • Custom fields, as metafields
  • Customers, addresses and customer groups
  • Order history
  • Blog posts, pages and SEO fields

Stays behind

  • Customer passwords (an activation email is sent)
  • Stencil theme code
  • Data specific to BigCommerce apps

Yeniden kurulur

  • Payment and shipping settings
  • Price lists and customer group discounts
  • Promotion rules
  • Multichannel sales connections

BigCommerce URLs and their Shopify equivalents

BigCommerce usually keeps product and category URLs at the root. On Shopify, products move under /products/ and categories under /collections/, so each URL is mapped with a 301.

What we watch for in BigCommerce migrations

Variants and pricing are structured differently on Shopify, so we plan these areas in advance.

  • Options

We map BigCommerce options and modifiers to Shopify variants or product option apps.

  • Customer groups

Group pricing is rebuilt with Shopify discount rules or Plus B2B price lists.

  • Custom fields

    Custom fields become filterable metafields.

  • URLs

Root-level product and category URLs are redirected without conflicts.

  • Channels

Marketplace and social selling connections are rebuilt from Shopify.

  • Measurement

GA4 and ad conversions are set up from scratch on Shopify.

  3. 03Not testing customer group prices before launch
  4. 04Breaking email (MX) records when moving the domain

Questions about BigCommerce migration

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Get in touch directly.

Does my order history move from BigCommerce to Shopify?

Yes. Orders are imported into Shopify linked to customer records, so your customers can see past orders in their accounts.

Will my Google rankings be affected?

Losses are kept to a minimum when every product, category, blog and page URL is 301 redirected to its Shopify equivalent and meta data is preserved.

I use BigCommerce B2B Edition. Is there an equivalent on Shopify?

Shopify Plus's B2B features support company accounts, price lists and payment terms. We compare your needs in the audit.

Will my store go offline during the migration?

No. The Shopify store is built separately, and your BigCommerce store keeps selling until the domain is switched over.

Do customer passwords move over?

No. For security reasons, passwords can't be read from any platform. Customer records move with their addresses, and after launch your customers receive a planned account activation email to set a new password.

How is the migration priced?

Based on product and order volume, integrations and design scope. We send a written quote after the audit; we don't publish package prices.
