Who moves from WordPress to Shopify?

This page is for WordPress sites that don't use WooCommerce. If you run a WooCommerce store, see our WooCommerce migration page.

Content site

A blog with traffic

Brands that have published content for years, get steady visitors from Google and now want to sell their own products.

  • Posts move to the Shopify blog
  • Products are linked from posts
  • Traffic connects directly to sales
Catalogue or company site

A showcase that doesn't sell

Businesses that present their products on WordPress and take orders by phone, WhatsApp or a form.

  • The catalogue becomes Shopify products
  • Payments and shipping set up from scratch
  • Forms become an order flow

What moves from WordPress

WordPress content is pulled from the export file (XML) and the REST API. Shopify has no built-in tool that imports WordPress content directly, so we move posts with apps and our own import process.

Moves over

  • Blog posts, categories and tags
  • Pages (about, contact, FAQ)
  • Images and featured images
  • Yoast or Rank Math meta titles and descriptions
  • Author details
  • Catalogue content, as Shopify products

Stays behind

  • WordPress theme and page builder (Elementor, Gutenberg block) layouts
  • Plugin settings
  • Comments (can be imported with an app if needed)

Yeniden kurulur

  • Page designs, with sections in a Shopify theme
  • Contact and quote forms
  • Membership and newsletter flows
  • Payments, shipping and policies

WordPress URLs and their Shopify equivalents

On Shopify, blog posts live under /blogs/blog-name/ and pages under /pages/. Whatever your permalink structure, every URL is 301 redirected to its new equivalent.

Your blog traffic keeps working on Shopify

The value of a WordPress site often lies in content built up over years. We move posts with their meta data, internal links and images, and link from content to relevant products to turn traffic into sales.

  • Old internal links in posts updated to the new URLs
  • Images moved to Shopify Files
  • Structured data kept in the Shopify blog template
  • Search Console monitoring after launch

Questions about moving from WordPress to Shopify

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Get in touch directly.

Can I move my WordPress blog to Shopify?

Yes. Posts, categories, tags, images and meta data move to the Shopify blog. Shopify has no built-in tool to import WordPress content directly, so we do it with apps and our own process.

Will I lose SEO when moving from WordPress to Shopify?

Losses are kept to a minimum when every old URL is 301 redirected, meta titles and descriptions are preserved and internal links are updated. We monitor Search Console with you after launch.

What happens to the pages I built with Elementor?

Page builder layouts can't be moved to Shopify. We rebuild those pages with Shopify theme sections that your team can edit without code.

I use WooCommerce. Is this page for me?

WooCommerce stores also move product, customer and order data, so we follow a separate process. See our WooCommerce to Shopify migration page.

Will my domain change?

No. Your current domain is connected to Shopify, and if your email is with another provider, the MX records are preserved.

How is the migration priced?

Based on product and order volume, integrations and design scope. We send a written quote after the audit; we don't publish package prices.
