Growth and visibility
Shopify international expansion
With Shopify Markets, we set up your store, payments and shipping so you can sell to other countries from a single store, in each customer's language and currency. We work with brands in Türkiye, the UK, Switzerland and the US.
One store, several markets
With Shopify Markets, each country or region gets its own language, currency, pricing and domain. Products and inventory are still managed in one store.
- Languages and translations by market
- Local currency pricing with rounding rules
- A country domain or subfolder (for example /de or /en)
- Product and collection availability by market
Payments depend on where your business is registered
Shopify Payments is available in some countries and not others, and the payment methods you can offer depend on where your company is registered. We set up payments to match your company structure: Shopify Payments and local methods where available, and gateways such as PayPal where it isn't.
Cross-border shipping and logistics
Shipping and returns are planned around product size, target market and order volume.
- DHL
- UPS
- FedEx

- Shipping profiles by market
- Customs details (HS code, country of origin)
- Duties and tax display
- Google Merchant Center by country
- Meta catalogue
- Amazon and Etsy

Common mistakes when selling abroad
These are on our pre-launch checklist.
- 01Leaving product descriptions machine-translated without using local search terms
- 02Not making it clear who pays customs duties
- 03Not publishing a returns policy that meets the target country's rules
- 04Missing hreflang tags and separate sitemaps for each language
- 05Promising free shipping without building the cost into pricing
Telling search engines about language versions
When Shopify Markets uses subfolders or domains, the relationship between language versions is signalled with hreflang tags:
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="https://yourbrand.com/" /><link rel="alternate" hreflang="de" href="https://yourbrand.com/de/" /><link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="https://yourbrand.com/en-us/" /><link rel="alternate" hreflang="x-default" href="https://yourbrand.com/" />

Frequently asked questions
Can't find the answer you're looking for? Get in touch directly.
Do I need a separate store for each country?
In most cases, no. Shopify Markets lets you sell to different markets from one store. A separate store only makes sense when the catalogue, pricing or operations are completely different.
Are my prices converted automatically?
Currency conversion can be automatic, but we recommend fixed prices and rounding rules for each market, so your prices aren't affected by daily exchange rate swings.
Who does the translations?
We use Shopify's translation tools and apps for the base translation, then localise product descriptions and key pages in the target language.
Does the customer pay customs duties?
It depends on the setup. You can include duties in the price or have the buyer pay on delivery. We decide together which option suits each market.
Do I need to set up a company abroad?
It isn't required, but it can widen your payment options. We recommend discussing it with your accountant.
Let's talk about your project.
We'll listen to your needs and agree on scope, timeline and technical approach.
