Migrate to Shopify

Magento to Shopify migration

We move your Magento 1 or Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) store to Shopify or Shopify Plus, with your catalogue, customers and order history. Focus on selling instead of servers, security patches and developer dependency.

What changes when you move from Magento to Shopify

Before

On Magento

  • You maintain the servers, caching and search
  • Security patches and upgrades are separate projects
  • Extension conflicts need developer time
  • Official support for Magento 1 ended in 2020

After

On Shopify

  • Hosting, security and updates handled by Shopify
  • Your team edits pages in Online Store 2.0 themes
  • Shopify Plus for B2B, multiple stores and checkout customisation
  • Infrastructure ready for enterprise-scale campaign traffic

What moves from Magento

Magento's export tools give product and customer data as CSV. For orders and custom attributes, we work through the API or the database.

Moves over

  • Simple, configurable and bundle products
  • Attributes and attribute sets, as metafields
  • Category tree, as collections and menus
  • Customers, addresses and customer groups
  • Order history
  • CMS pages, blocks and meta data

Stays behind

  • Customer passwords (an activation email is sent)
  • Magento theme and module code
  • Multi-tier price rules (rebuilt with Shopify equivalents)

Yeniden kurulur

  • Payment and shipping integrations
  • ERP, warehouse and accounting connections
  • Catalogue and cart price rules
  • Multi-store views, with Shopify Markets
  • B2B price lists (with Shopify Plus B2B)

Example: Magento URLs and their Shopify equivalents

By default Magento adds a .html suffix to product and category URLs, and if category paths are used, the same product can appear at several URLs. We add every variation to the redirect list.

In the audit we make clear which features are built into Shopify and which need an app or Plus.

Planned transfers for large catalogues

Magento stores often run large catalogues with many attributes and several store views. We don't move everything in one go; we work in stages, with test imports and mapping tables.

  • Attribute sets mapped to a metafield structure
  • Configurable products split to fit Shopify's option limits
  • Store views mapped to Shopify Markets languages
  • On the final day, only new orders and customers are synced

Questions about Magento migration

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Get in touch directly.

Can I move my Magento 1 store straight to Shopify?

Yes. You can move straight to Shopify without upgrading to Magento 2 first. Official support for Magento 1 ended in June 2020, so the move matters for security too.

Should I move to Shopify or Shopify Plus?

If you need B2B price lists, checkout customisation, multiple stores or handle high order volumes, we recommend Shopify Plus. In the audit we compare your needs against both options.

Will my Google rankings be affected?

Losses are kept to a minimum when every .html URL on Magento, including category path variations, is 301 redirected to its Shopify equivalent.

What happens to our ERP integration?

The ERP connection is rebuilt on Shopify's APIs. If a ready-made app exists we recommend it; if not, a custom integration.

Do customer passwords move over?

No. For security reasons, passwords can't be read from any platform. Customer records move with their addresses, and after launch your customers receive a planned account activation email to set a new password.

How is the migration priced?

Based on product and order volume, integrations and design scope. We send a written quote after the audit; we don't publish package prices.
