Shopify Meta (Facebook and Instagram) catalogue integration
With Shopify's Facebook & Instagram app, your product catalogue syncs to Meta, and Instagram product tags and dynamic catalogue ads draw on that catalogue. We take care of the connection, data sharing settings and catalogue errors.
What the setup covers
Ad performance starts with the right catalogue and accurate tracking.
Catalogue sync
Products, variants, prices and stock sent to your Meta catalogue automatically.
Data sharing
Server-side Conversions API switched on alongside the Pixel.
Product sets
Product groups for ads by category, price or stock status.
Instagram shopping
Product tags in posts and stories.
How a purchase event is verified
After setup, we check in Meta Events Manager that browser and server events are matched by the same ID. A summary of a matched purchase event:
{ "event_name": "Purchase", "event_id": "order_1042", "action_source": "website", "custom_data": { "currency": "USD", "value": 89.00, "content_type": "product" }}Common catalogue errors
These can stop your ads from running.
- 01Product images below the minimum size
- 02Out-of-stock products appearing in ads
- 03Data sharing left at a low level, so conversions are under-counted
- 04Cookie consent settings switching off tracking entirely at checkout

Can customers pay directly on Instagram?
Checkout inside Instagram is only offered in some countries. Elsewhere, product tags send the customer to your website.
How do privacy rules and cookie consent affect tracking?
Browser-side tracking is limited for visitors who don't give cookie consent. With server-side events and proper consent management, we work to keep tracking as complete as the rules allow.
